After traveling for 9 months, exploring America's wild places, we wanted to settle in a home that left a small foot print on our planet, e.g. did not contribute to global warming, conserved water resources, made the most of sustainable materials, pushed the envelope on architectural design, and products, and finally, allowed us to grow our own food. We've named our home Zelonedom, which is a phonetic English spelling of the Polish word for green home. These links discuss the science and technologies that contributes to a green home and that makes a green home also a quality built home.
We have received Energy Star Certification for Zelonedom. We were the first 5-Star BuiltGreen home in our county, exceeding the threshold for the top rating by 55%. We are preparing the paperwork for LEED-H Certification. We dramatically reduced construction waste, extensively used recycled content products, have installed state of the art energy and water conservation features, and ended with a home that, in our opinion, achieves a major WOW factor for architectural and interior design. It's been a journey and hopefully, this site will inspire you to make your building or remodeling product more environmentally sensitive. Frankly, we'd like you to push the envelop even further and make your project greener than ours. The technology is there, all that is needed is the will and open mind to put it all together. So,
